It was an electric night of firsts for LG Mobile, Youtube, Jane’s Addiction and the electronics industry as a whole! At the intimate Terminal 5 concert venue in trendy downtown New York, New York, the LG Thrill 4G lit up the crowd as hundreds of Jane’s Addiction fans and technology advocates contributed to the world’s first 3D user generated concert.
It was the day before the live stream at the site’s walk through that I first knew this event was going to be a wild success. Because LG wanted to make the live 2D stream and August 4th 3D rebroadcast as visually stimulating as possible, LG worked in lock step with production partners to build a custom stage of many lighting and laser beam layers emerging from a vortex backdrop. Of course, what would a concert be without an encore? Jane’s Addiction rocked out their most popular song, Jane Says, to falling confetti and balloons. The energy was palpitating.
Prior to the concert, the public relations team operated business as usual. This means managing the hundred seventy plus press attendees, ranging virtually every type of publication – technology, lifestyle, business – facilitating images and sound bites from Jane’s Addiction and capitalizing on all attending celebrities. Particularly, Penn Badgley of Gossip Girls was especially engaged.
As this leg of LG Thrill 4G’s campaign wrapped up, I took an inventory of all of the night’s victories, the most prominent being LG reaffirming our strong relationship with Youtube and just how much the handset shined. Connecting LG, user generated content and 3D was easy with consumer benefits upfront and personal.
